2010년 설날. 기차를 타고 다녀왔다. 네살인 HO는 이제 한 자리를 떡하니 차지하고 앉게 되어서, 두자리만을 예약하고 다녀온 이번 귀향에서 나는 올 때는 차간 보조석에서 앉아와야만 했다. 거기는 퍽 추운 편이어서, 불과 50분임에도 불구하고 감기에 걸리고 말았다. (나은지 일주일 밖에 안 되었었는데!)서울에 도착해서 HO는 할아버지와 매우 즐거운 한 때를 보냈다. 어떻게 보냈는지, 안방안으로 들어가지 못했던 나로서는 알 길이 없다. "할아버지만 들어와" 하고는 문을 닫아버리는 HO. 삼촌과도 잘 노는듯 했으나 이번에 삼촌이 HO를 골리는 바람에 HO는 삼촌한테는 내내 삐져있게 되었다. 설날 당일에는 여느 때와 다름없는 설 풍경. 그러나 삼촌에게 받은 미미인형 - 누우면 눈을 감고 앉으면 눈을 뜨는 - 과, 할머니께 선물받은 설빔으로 인해 HO는 무척이나 신나했다.

After taking Ch-rye, the Korean ritual to ancestors, we took Se-Bae time. Se-Bae is Korean traditional greeting ceremony and younger generations take deep bow to their older generations. HO made her Se-Bae in turn. She bowed to her grandparents and her parents (me and HM). Then the turn for my brother and brother in-law for taking HO's Se-Bae came. What a surprise. HO began to refuse making Se-Bae. Grandparents and parents began to laugh. "She might think that she is the same level to her uncles", everyone said and laughed. It's certain that HO brings lots of joy to our family. Thanks, HO!
